The CES 349 Digital Pull-Off Adhesion Tester are lightweight, portable, easy-to-use and are suitable for measuring the pull-off adhesion of coatings up to 80MPa (11600psi) either on-site, or in the laboratory.
Caltech Instruments Pvt Ltd has developed an equipment to measure the adhesion of paint films, coatings and building materials on top of any substrate which is called as CES 349 Digital Pull-off Adhesion Tester. Adhesion Testers evaluate the adhesion (pull-out strength) of a coating by determining the greatest tensile pull-out force that it can withstand before detaching. Breaking points, demonstrated by fractured surfaces, occur along the weakest plane within the system consisting of the dolly (loading fixture, pull stub), glue, coating layer(s), and the substrate.
CES 349 Digital Pull-off Adhesion Tester accurately measures the adhesion strength of coatings on a wide range of substrates. The pull-out adhesion test determines the adhesion of the coating by measuring the pull-out force required to remove the dolly from the coating.
There are two models available. The model CES 349 – Digital Pull Off Adhesion Tester and CES 351 – Automatic Pull off Adhesion Tester. Both models have the following features:
- Portable, hand-operated instrument can be used in any position and requires no external power source-ideal for the lab and on-site
- Large scale reads clearly and easily in PSI and MPa
- Inexpensive, single-use dollies eliminate the need for heating, cleaning, or brushing for re-use

- Multi-purpose, high-tensile two-part adhesive suitable for use with a wide variety of coatings and coating thicknesses
- Cutting tool for isolating test area is included
- Coating adhesion tester pressure system is calibrated and certified to ±1 % accuracy (full-scale) and comes with a two-year warranty
- Internal storage of pull-out data, including maximum pull-out force, testing time, and size of the pull-out Dolly
- 10, 14, 20, and 50mm dollies to maximize the measurement resolution and test range
Standards: ASTM D4541, ASTM D7234, EN 13144, ISO 4624, ISO 16276 etc. It also complies as per IS 16719 Polyurethane coatings for the interior and exterior of steel pipe and fittings.
