Gloss & Reflectance

A glossometer is used to measure specular reflection gloss of a surface. Where as, Reflectance Meter is a device used to measure the amount of light that reflects off a surface.

Gloss is determined by projecting a beam of light at a fixed intensity and angle onto a surface and measuring the amount of reflected light at an equal but opposite angle. Measurement is done by gloss meter in Gloss Units (GU) with 20 degrees, 60 degrees and 85 degrees is very normal in accordance with DIN EN ISO 2813, BS 3900, DIN 67530, ASTM D523, ASTM D1455, ASTM D2457, ASTM D4039, DIN 67530, JIS Z 8741, ISO 7668 and ISO 13803 standards.

Reflectance meters are commonly used in various fields such as photography, agriculture, material science, and quality control to assess the reflective properties of surfaces. They provide valuable information about the color, gloss, and texture of materials based on how much light they reflect under specific conditions.
